SMALLER CLASS SIZES

GENESIS PREP STUDENTS SCORE HIGHER ON STANDARDIZED TESTS

The Genesis Prep difference is evident in the way that our students perform on standardized tests. Genesis Preparatory School students consistently score higher than the national norm on The Stanford Achievement Test. The Stanford Achievement Test, sometimes referred to as Stanford 10 or SAT-10, has been used by schools throughout the United States to assess students from kindergarten to high school. The test was developed in 1922 and has been a consistently comprehensive and trusted tool by school systems to gauge student academic knowledge and by researchers to analyze the effectiveness of educational policies.

We also see the superior achievement of our students in their AP (Advanced Placement) exams taken each year. When compared to Florida and national scores, Genesis Prep students consistently outpace their peers.

GENESIS PREP STUDENTS HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

One of the major benefits of attending Genesis Preparatory School is the opportunities it offers students to participate in a wide variety of activities. At Genesis Prep, we don’t believe that a soccer player shouldn’t also be a jazz band saxophonist, a yearbook staffer, and a cheerleader. Because of our smaller, more individualized focus, Genesis Prep gives students the opportunity to pursue a multitude of interests during their middle and high school years, rather than staying on one track. An athlete is also a musician, a club president, a volunteer, and the star of the school play. At Genesis Prep, the choice is not either/or. We encourage students to pursue anything and everything that sounds interesting, giving them the wider perspective that experience offers.

GENESIS PREP STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM SMALLER CLASS SIZES

Smaller isn’t always better–unless you’re talking about class sizes. The research on the benefits of smaller class sizes cannot be disputed. Smaller class sizes lead to more engaged, better participating students–which inevitably improves learning. Research has shown that smaller class sizes are most beneficial for students who have a tough time engaging in large groups or for whom noisy, crowded classroom leave them feeling lost or disconnected. At Genesis Prep, small class sizes mean not only the expectation that everyone engages and comes to class prepared, but also the opportunity for teachers to build better relationships with students. At Genesis Prep, we encourage our faculty to tailor their curriculum and teaching to the needs of their students while ensuring academic rigor and standards remain. The two-pronged approach of smaller class sizes and teachers who adapt to student needs is an indisputably successful combination.
